Thanks for your feedback. Right now we are working on a new way to think about planning in Projectplace. The Tasks tool will exist in its current form for a good while yet but we will not change the functionality right now. The dependencies in Tasks are purely there to visualise the dependencis of your plan. When a dependency is "impossible" it will turn red to indicate that you need to take action in this part of the plan.
The new collaborative planning tools will include support for quick re-planning of tasks, actions and parts of the plan.
