I noticed that ProjectPlace replaces certain file extensions. If I upload a *.csv file for example, ProjectPlace will rename it to *.csv.xls. In other words: ProjectPlace assumes that the *.csv file is linked to Excel and makes an Excel document from it. Something similar happens with other extensions.
In my opinion ProjectPlace should not change the file extensions. I think this is unwanted behaviour. If I rename a *.csv to *.jpg (for example), I would like ProjectPlace to maintain the *.jpg extension, because of it is my intention to rename it to *.jpg!
Hi Sebastiaan,
Thanks for your feedback. The file type in Projectplace is determined by the extension when you upload. You can see which file type has been decided in the general tab of the properties for the file and you can also manually change it there. Changing the file extension manually will not change the file type. However, there is currently no file type for .csv in Projectplace. This has ben reported and hopefully we'll have time to add that file type asap.
So to change your file extension/type manually please
1. locate the file in Documents.
2. Click to the right of the file name to open the context menu for the file.
3. Click on Properties in the menu.
4. Change to the desired file type.
5. Click ok.
Best regards,
Karolina
