Document and Record Management has in governmental projects to comply with legal rules. Crucial documents en process steps should be recorded in internal certified systems and accessable libraries.
Full Integration between Projectplace and those systems is an utopy. Using a model and templates in Projectplace, members should be able to register documents and process information by syncing with those systems. For that purpose metadata has to be included. The message can be sent by mail with attachment as PDF's and XML (even email is a possible plugin for a service oriented architecture).
More sophisticated is the possibility to recieve information from an external document system. Each synced document should contain in that case an external reference (such as case and document number).
A governmental organisation can be active in the cloud, but on crucial moments proces en information can only be transparent if 'declouded'!

Hi John,
Thanks for your idea. I get the feeling that your project(s) have a very specific framework that you need to adhere to. Let's see what we can do to help you through the available resources with Projectplace. You can certainly already store xml and pdf files in Documents in Projectplace. These can be forwarded via email to any system that alllows email input.
We do not have syncing possibilities at the moment and it seems most likely that this would be solved by opening up for api:s that our customers could use themselves for writing syncing applications.
Best regards,
Karolina

Hi Karolina,
I had hoped that my question/idea would be recognized as generic and independant of language and nationality. Any governmental department will have the need of archiving documents and processes in a certified system on site.
One major bottleneck. Sure, we can store xml and pdf files in the section Documents but document metadata (f.e. conform Dublin Core) cannot be added.
You mentioned the solution of opening up for api's. For your PDA app's some have been yet developped, I suppose. Can you give me some insight in Projectplace R&D efforts for this?
Greetings, John

Hi Karolina,
In your email anwer you mentioned the posibility of an email reply. But that bounced undiliverable back. As anonymous I have made a statement as you see above. I repeat it logged in, in the hope I will get an answer.

Hi John!
It's fine to send me email on the support address:) We are starting development for the API portal right now. I have no estimated release day at the moment.
Best regards,
