I would like to have a separate tab for "shared documents" where each root tree could be accessed via separate access rights / passwords from non members or read-only members.
That would solve the idea by using PP for procurement or publishing information / documents to people outside the project.
I am already using PP for both procurement and publishing of installation/erection documentation as well as other project information needed on our building site (E.g. safety info/messages). But this is quite complicated with regard to access rights and temporary membership.
We are saving h*ll of a lot of money by using PP for document distribution and I think that many of Your users could do the same. It will also generate money for You as people would share more GB on the PP if this function was provided.
Hi Johan,
Thanks for your feedback. Have you tried the project site for sharing important documents with external parties?
I will try to post a little film about how this can be done later today.
Best regards,
Karolina
Hi Karolina,
Yes I have tested that function but it's far from what I require. E.g. I need to have tree structures and as well as version management flags etc. I also need to set access for each tree. In general I need exact the same functions as found in the documents tab but for people outside the project. Therefore my idea of creating a "shared documents" tab.
I know that PP strategy is collaboration within a project but You should also be aware of that each project has suppliers and contractors that can't be part of the actual project organisation due to contract and confidential reasons. External procurement-, expediting- &
erection documents are very big issues in the industrial projects where I work.
Kindest regards,
Johan
I am the same Johan above (Forgot to login).
I'd like to see an easier way to publish documents to the project site. Today you have to download a document from PP and then upload a copy of it to the site. If the internal document is updated it won't be propagated to the site version.
Best would be to mark a document in the documents library as published outside (to the site). It would also be fab if it also was possible to build a separate library structure on the site, but thats luxury.
Hi Reijo,
I completely agree that the current process to update documents on the public site can be improved. This could almost be posted as its own idea:)
Best regards,
Karolina
