IE9 support for the ProjectPlace plugin is needed. When can we expect to see this? Some of us are working and testing in beta environments, and IE9 replaces IE8.
Update: I completly removed and reinstalled the plugin. It seems to work ok. If I encounter any problems while working in IE9 / ProjectPlace, I will update you.
Hi Olav,
Thanks so much for your feedback. If you do encounter any problems in IE9 please let us know and we will check it out.
Best regards,
Karolina
Hi Karolina,
After using IE9 (beta) for a while now, it seems like most of the functions works correctly. However, two of the issues I've discovered so far is:
First issue:
1. if I receive a link to a document at projectplace through e.g. e-mail
2. and my default browser is IE9
3. the link only opens a grey projectplace window in IE9 beta where the tag says "authenticate".
4. but there is no place to enter the username and password, as the page in the browser is grey. The address in the address field also seems to be correct.
5. Work around is to use the projectplace plugin or open a new page in the browser and enter projectplace without the link.
6. This can be reproduced.
Second issue is:
1. Trying to update this post using IE9 beta.
2. When posting the comment a spam message occurs saying that the comment is blocked because Java is turned off. This is not the case.
3. I can edit posts in IE9 beta, but not add a new comment as described above.
4. Reproducible. If you need screenshots, I can produce that if it is not easily reproduced for you.
(5. Some layout improvments can be suggested to this specific page, such as when doing a mouseover on own comments to be edited or deleted, where the edit or delete symbols transparency is blending with text behind).
Best regards,
Olav Aleksander
Thanks!
Great feedback. I will test this and notify our developers and the developers for this platform:)
All the best,
Karolina
Hi Olav Alexander,
We are not able to reproduce the problem in Projectplace. Does it still exist for you?
Best regards,
Karolina
I will take a deeper look into it and come back with more information and pictures (when I find some avialable time).
For now it is not a major issue, just a little anoying that I have to copy paste the link instead of clicking on it from Outlook 2010.
The problem with opening a link from a message sent by e-mail (or skype etc.), where the link automatically opens in IE9 (RC) and the web pages shows empty without the login window, can be fixed temporarily by switching on the compatibility view for projectplace.
Hi, Question: are you working in 64bit mode when you encounter issues? I have re-installed the projectplace plugin, but it does not seem to work with ie 64 bit. Specifically, opening/ open & lock a document on projectplace results in 'A temporary error occured during the download. Please try again.' I'm wondering if Olav uses 64 bit, and Karolina 32 perhaps?
I am using the 32 bit version, as there is too much problems with the 64 bit and the web in general yet. The IE9 is now fully released too, so I guess the more that starts to use it, the better testing, more issues will come up, but better support too. IE9 is a great upgrade from IE8, especially due to its hardware acceleration.
The plug-in for Projectplace does not support 64-bit IE regardless of version.
Best regards,
Karolina
We have solved the outstanding issues in IE9 I believe. The 64bit version is not supported
