Hello,
Following the telcon with Katrin, I have a few remarks/suggestions:
1. The Planner tool is a very promising tool to work with people who are not real project managers. I'm quite enthousiastic about it.
In my case:
2. To work with projectplace efficiently, I see the need for 2 features:
A. I would have to be able to import a mpp plan, and then continue working on it with the Planner Tool. So, as a minimum, the Planner should be able to create tasks from the workplan tasks in projectplace; initially, it could just replace the whole plan or create a new one in the Planner.
Without such feature, I would have to manually create a plan in the Planner that matches the workplan in projectspace. And then, keep the tasks in projectspace and Planner consistent manually.
B. if not with dependencies, the Planner should have a feature to ease the moving/changing of tasks.
A frequent issue is that tasks are delayed/prolonged and thus all subsequent tasks have to be moved.
So, as minimum, it would help to be able to select ('elastic band') a group of tasks and move all of them in one action.
Obviously, on the long term, the Planner and projectspace should become real integrated tools, that can keep the workplan and all tasks consistent.
For a decision, it is important for me to know whether my suggestions can be considered and if so, when the features could be available.

Hi Theo,
Thanks for your feedback.
You first question: If I understand correctly is that you would like to be able to export information from Tasks in a Project back into Planner? Right now, we can export information from the Projectplace Planner and import it into Tasks in Projectplace.
However, we do not support export from Tasks back into Projectplace Planner again, and although this is something that we have discussed there are no immediate planes for implementation.
As for your second question about grouping tasks together I added this film to your comment in the Dependencies thread as well...but a good thing can be said again and again, right?;)
The work packages are a way to group tasks that belong together logically.
I hope that this has answered some of your questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Best regards,
Karolina
