Dear all,

At the moment we are not focusing development efforts into Tasks as this is a legacy planning product that will be replaced by the new planning tools of Timeline, Activities and Boards.

This means that we will not introduce any new functionality into Tasks.

Best regards,
Karolina

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your feedback. Are you working in Projectplace Planner or in Tasks in a Team Edition? Maybe you could attach a screen shot of how it looks for you?

Best regards,
Karolina

Hi Paul,

If you set start and and dates for your tasks they will show up in the gantt view. Start and end dates are also necessary for dependencies.

Best regards,
Karolina

Hi Karolina,
OK, I did what you suggested and it works.

Nevertheless, I must say, this is a strange way to have to work with a planner.
Normally you would give the begindate of a project, the estimated capacity and the calendar of the resources. The planner then calculates begin and end-dates based on resources and links between activities. After that you "play" with resources, links and dates to mold the planning into something that is acceptable to all stakeholders.

Without the functionality above, your planner doesn't fit my needs.
To my mind, this is not a planner, but a very nice project activity list that can work with the original planned output for the project from MS Project.

Regards,
Paul
