Hi Åge,

Thanks for your feedback. Access rights is a tricky area and one that we get quite a lot of feedback on. It would indeed be nice to be able to see and change access rights in an easier way.

You know that you can set up your groups/access rights first and then invite members straight into the group that they should belong to?

I personally think that it is risky to allow access rights on an individual member/document level, Especially in big projects with complex document structures where it becomes too hard to get an overview of who sees what. But maybe I'm wrong...

Best regards,
Karolina

Hi Åge
In a meeting with PP today I took up a similar case and was informed about your feedback.
I fully support your request and have voted for the same.
My point to PP is that the access right is on 3 different levels and for each of the “tools” available in PP and therefore very difficult to administrate. As you are stating “Very Risky”.
I therefore have requested and like to ad to your response, that a kind of roadmap of present access is presented giving you a total overview when you open one of the access pages.
The same also to apply when you right click on a folder in the document tool to give or change the access for a folder.
Having such a roadmap will at a glance give you an logic overview of the different access settings, if the settings are logical or as one of my staff put it: “It does not help you to have the key to the liquor cabinet if you do not have the key to the house” .

I also like to tell you that I have filed a “Security administration” suggestion in the response log.

I hope you get many votes for your suggestion

Thank you very much Thorolf.

The case is important for us. In our projects we have many "stunt-resourses" that needs fast access to certain document catalogs, and there is no good way to admin that today.

I would like efficient admin and reporting functionality to manage this.

Best regards
Åge

Hi Åge,

I also support your request.

In general I like that security seems to be taken very seriously when it comes to the back end systems (databases and servers). However when it comes to functional security within the application itself there seems to be less focus on security concerns. That is a shame because security is the primary reason for me using this tool.

Hi all,

We are doing a pre-study for a better overview and a better way to set access rights in Projectplace. No new functionality is included in the scope of the project but we want to make the existing functionality easier to use. If you want to help, we would be grateful to know in which situations you are when you find the current solution frustrating. What do you think could improve it?
