Thanks for contributing Helene!

Regarding the fixed steps, when you move or change duration of an activity it already snaps to a full day. So that should work, did you have problems with the snapping?

If I understand your point "determine the process to 4 days" correctly. Do you mean that you would like to be able to create templates for activities, containing perhaps a default duration etc, or would it be enough for you if you could say for example: "all my activities default to 4 days long duration"?

Specific dates will be added in the form of milestones, so that's on the road map.

Customising your activities with colors is something we have definitely thought about and are talking about implementing.

Regarding the changing duration of the "main process" as you change duration of a "sub process" this is something that we have done on purpose. We want the user to experience that he/she draws the duration in which to fit in activities, and that that period is fixed unless you manually change it. The rationale for that is "ok this is the time I have, what can I put in here?" Perhaps that explains that interaction model, but it could also be that we are wrong, that's why we are happy to hear your opinions while we develop.

So, please vote for this idea if you find it good!

Helene, I see material for at least five ideas in this one. Consider giving each idea a chance to fly on its own. Especially the subject of how "main" and "sub" tasks/processes should interact. I can think of so many ways to do it and feel it's really important that we choose one of the better.

Regarding the snapping, it looked like the process did not snap on a day-basis.
Regarding the pre-set of duration of processes, my idea was that you for each main and sub process would be able to pre determine every process duration in days (must be calibrated with the timeline depending on if you have 5 or 7 day weeks). When going to Schedule the whole process would then be displayed as pre set. It would necessary however to have the option to adjust the lenght of the process in the Schedule by drag-and-drop (as it is now).
Regarding the duration of main process/sub process, I understand the rationale. When I draw my time table in many projects I don't start with "What time do I have". I work in the financial sector and we are strictly governed by the law and start the project planning with "If we start working like hell now, the record date can be set at XX and the money is in the bank (of the customer) by XX". This means that you don't know how much time you have until you have prepared the whole time table. But that's my specific situation...

I still think this main/sub process duration idea should be in a separate thread. =) Anyway, just checking a thing here... If you could hold down a key (say, CTRL) while dragging to allow the sub process to extend the main process, would that solve it for you? I'm not saying we're going to do it this way, I'm not an interaction designer, but I'm curious anyway.

Peter,
A function like that would be useful. I'm just explaining my situation and have full understanding that you can't satisfy all needs that your users have.

Please note that in this version dragging or extending a sub task while holding down the ALT key will allow the sub task to extend the parent task(s).
