Be able to email issue content like comment and/or documents to a person outside projectplace. siilar function as documents have
The purpose of this request is to be able to email users, either inside or outside project place on issue comments or documents, where that person is not associated with the issue in Project Place. For example, on a Project Place issue, it has email links for the "Creator" and the "Assigned", but many times you want to include another person inside or outside project place for their information.
This is a great idea, and we have been missing this particular function a lot.
However; i also think its important that responses back to that particular issue would have to end up in the actual issue (to keep all the issue-threads intact).
This is exatly what I have been missing, I hope this will be possible (soon)!
Business case made for the top ideas about issues
After the business council we feel that we need to understand the needs people have for the issue management tool better. Please those that have voted, feel free to provide us with further explanation of when and how you need this. And also maybe why the current solution is inadequate.
Hi Karolina,
From my perspective, there are 2 examples.
A) I am adding comments or documents to an issue in Project place, and I realise that this particular issue has an affect on another part of the project, but the project team members will not be aware of it, as they are not attached to this issue. So it would be good to be able to have a selection box or similar, where I could immediately connect another Project Place member to this issue, so they receive an email notification of this information. When changing the assigned person on an issue, you can currently only select the "Creator" and/or the "Assigned" person to send notifications to, so in this case also, it would be great to be able to tag another Project Place member to receive a notice, because often I am adding comment information when changing assignments, that I find other Project Place members should be made aware of.
B) Similar case to the above, but for email addresses external to Project Place. I am working on content in an issue, either comments or documents, and I realise that someone in the company needs to be made aware of the information, then the only way I can do that today, is Cut/Paste/Copy and download documents from Project Place then create a separate email in my email client to send the info to the person outside Project Place. This I find I have to do frequently, and it is very time consuming and prone to error at the same time.
Thanks for taking the time to clarify Brian.

Today, when we communicate regarding a particular issue, we have to send e-mail, and mark that with the issue number. And than, when we get response, we have to search for the issue again and copy->past the text innto it. All this just to keep the thread all through it.
We have many external project members, as well as co-workers, who we dont want to give access to PP, men nevertheless really need to correspondc with within an issue, without having to use a seperate e-mail application...
This would make PP overall MUCH more user-friendly and effective for our point of view.
Per,
I deleted your anonymous comment. Thanks for taking your time to give us feedback. It really helps when we discuss and prioritise for development.
We have gathered a new task force to put together a business case for improvents in the Issues tool. This should be done by the end of May. Thanks for all your input! It really helps.
The business case is written and will be presented at the next council
That sounds great. We cross our fingers!!
This idea is now put to the design team to begin the development. Official status "ready for development"
Ready for development, no specific start date set.
This idea is still ready for development. I will let you know when it moves into development.
We appreciate that. In fact, this has become crucial for us to continue using PP.
We cannot continue copy -> paste all contence when corresponding within issues that involves our users as well our datacenter in Denmark.

I understand that this is crucial for you. We are looking at some ways of solving the need of emailing information out and getting input for issues from people who are not project members.
Maybe a review type process?
I'm not sure what you mean with "review type process" ?
Hi Per,
Similar to when you send a document for review.

This was implemented in last night's release. We are very curious how you will like it:) Please feel free to test the new functionality and tell us what you think
