I used to work with projectplace and a similar, competitive product in customer projects when I was an employed consultant. I took the functionality as it was, since I had no other choice and did not care too much about it. Nowadays I am self employed and sometimes asked from my customers which tool should be used by them. In this case I can act as a kind of influence/promoter. Since I have a free account I can quickly open my projectplace and demonstrate the tool functionality.
However, when it comes to programs & portfolio management functionality), I can neither tell my customers something about this functionality also available in projectplace (since there are no details available), nor can I demonstrate it (since it is only available in the flat rate accounts for companies.
I am using nowadays projectplace also as a kind of repository to support myself when I work at a customer site to retrieve information and documents which I need or to put documents to this place to work on them, even when I am not on site of the customer. In former times I needed to take all this with me by putting it on my laptop/a stick with all the limitations (when somebody works on the documents in the meantime, I am lost and cannot put my version simply back to the file system.)
Nowadays I can retrieve it easily whereever I am, even if I have no laptop with me. I can lock it and make sure that the documents always are consistent. But when you have more than one project, it becomes difficult, since I would like separate documents project specifically. Putting them all in the same project (even in separate folders) is not so helpful.
It would be great when projectplace sales management evaluated the following possibilities:
1. Please provide more detailed information about the portfolio/program management functionality in a presentation on
2. Enhancement of the licencing model to enable also those users to use the portfolio management functionaty who have only the base licence (free) or the medium licence.
3. Think about a possibility for self employed consultants to licence the unrestricted functionality with one licence per user to an affordable price. I am willing to pay for it, but the the current available licence model does not fit my needs completely.
4. Think about possibilites for self employed consultants to use the bigger licences for free and to act as influencers/promoters as a benefit for you. :-)
