Yes, that would be very useful.

I totally agree. In my projects I like to tie documents to tasks, so that every task results in a document, and every document stems from a task. Tofay I prefix document numbers with WBS codes, but that makes it impossible to add a task that changes the wbs numbering.

This is an option that is greatly missed currently in ProjectPlace. Please put this on your prioritylist. Currently linking of documents to an issue is possible, but not to tasks in WBS.

By adding normal document functionality to tasks, it would be easy to add a link to a certain document in document archive or just add a document directly in the task.

It is a nice idea!

exactly what I was looking for!

After the investigation we have found that implementing this in the way it's done in, for example Meetings, is too complicated to be part of the ongoing quality work. This has to be prioritised against new development.

Or we need to find another way of implementing.

This is a function that would help out in getting structure in the relation between task and document related to it.

There is an ongoing pre-study on how we will change the way we handle work planning in Projectplace. This idea will be brought up in conjuction with this work.

I do agree that this would be a big improvement.
To prefix documents with WBS codes is insufficient from a user and project leader point of view to complicated.
It is to be expected that almost every tasks concists of a specification in a document or would have documents as a results of the completed task.
Therfore an attribute would be helpful to make the distinction between type of documents.
Funny is that within this comment it would be possible to add a file (document).

This feature is clearly a must have. It (i) facilitates work tremendously and (ii) much cheaper products have it!
The document link should ideally work like this: (i) I can fetch a link from within a task and give it a name other than the document name or link reference and (ii) I push a link from the document to one or more tasks with a specified name other than the document name or linke reference.
