This was taken up in a quality meeting and we still feel that this is something that does not go in line with our general development trend which is in the direction of increased collaboration and transparency in projects. However, if you would start a separate project (team edition) with each supplier they would not be able to see eachother. Using the Project Site would also be a possible way of spreading documentation to a number of parties without the parties seeing eachother.

Interesting idea, I have met other users with the same need, to be able to have support in Projectplace from "pre project phase" into full project when handling procurements.

I'll recommend them to post their ideas and suggestions here as well in order to give us a well documented background to evalute the idea.

I see a great potential to use Project Place as an effective tool in bidding processes. The outstanding issue is to prevent the individual bidders to see who else is bidding. It becomes cumbersome to initiate a handful of projects just to acheive this.

I share the same idea/recommendation as my colleague above in the potential to use Project Place as an effective tool in bidding processes. The problem has always been related to preventing the individual bidders to see who else is bidding.

I fully support the request and comments made on this issue. My colleagues & I have been giving ProjectPlace feedback on this specific issue, requesting modification to make it secure for the Procurement Process. Sincerely hope that ProjectPlaace will address this issue soon. I believe that such a change will greatly benefit the users and last but not least ProjectPlace!

If you like this idea I hope that you also vote for it. The highest ranked ideas will be evaluated and we have every intention to develop some of them.

We use ProjectPlace extensively to manage and control documents on global projects. Many of our internal users have asked if PP can handle tenders and bidding securely. We would welcome the addition of this service/functionality on the portal. It's the one thing missing from this excellent well used service in our company.

Good feedback, I think the easiest change to make here would be to increase security on the Project Site and enable a histroy log for the Admin to review, this would of course need members to login to the Project Site but the security of the password could perhaps reflect our New Enterprise Password Policy. We could also allow the tenders to be sent to the Issues inbox, this change might be easier to implement than an entire make-over in the system.........mmmmmmmmm food for thought.

Eventhough one of the main succes features in projects is collaboration and subsequently communication, making users able to turn the security and the ease of use of Projectplace into a due diligence/procurement/ platform would be a big added value for existing and aspiring customers. The need for it is there.

I support the comments on the desire for more security to allow projectplace to be used for procurement and in particular tendering activities. It seems to me the changes would not need to be extensive to make an improvement in security to allow more use of the system.

This was reviewed by the product coucil and it was decided that we need to some further exploration of this idea before we make a desicion.

I work with R&D and have contacts with suppliers in technical discussions and have had the same whish to create a little "sand box" with in the project place to share information (mostly documents: specifications quotations etc) with this supplier only. I think it would be very, very useful.

We will keep this under Ideas Priority list in the Backlog, unfortunately we don't have the resources to develop this case presently.

I agree, I would also like to use Project Place in bidding processes. The outstanding issue is to prevent the individual bidders to see who else is bidding or any other documents.

One quick and easy improvement could be to allow the admnistrator to select "no access" to different groups for the "People" function. Currently, the only choice the administrator has is to turn it off for everyone to keep this secure. We have the "no access", "read access" and "read and write" access options for other areas such as "documents", so how hard can it be to add this functionality?

In our project we have supplied the inquiry through projectplace. And I agree in the comment above in general. In particular that external bidders should not see other bidders. My solution was to create "fake" bidders in order to make it impossible for the contractors to know how many other bidder that was involved.

I have used PP in the past for Projects and like the tool. I would like to be able to sue this for Due Diligence (very similar to procurement, but in reverse). I'm a bit depressed to find this was flagged 3 years ago and nothing has been done though. This must be an incrdibly simple fix at a Group level ie to hide all members - you can hide virtually everything else, including contacts ( note the apparent irony of that...). Possibly you just missed out on a repeat customer.
