it will better to link Board/card with Issues, because whenever user wants to see the Number of issues & their status against Board/card will easy to track the record.
Bets example is in JIRA Sprint/Epic. use....... for the same..
We are currently not having any plans to link the Boards with Issues as we are investigating the future of the Issues tool.
