Hi Thibaut!
Thanks for sharing your idea! Can you please give me examples of what you need to help the people with so we can understand your need even better. Thanks!

Best regards
Silvija

Here are some examples :
A manager ask if I can help invite peoples on his project. However I don't have access to his project.
A project manager report that a guy he invited don't have acess to documents. He probably don't understand that he has to put people in the right groups so that they can access to documents. He ask for my help but I don't have access to his project.
It is not so a big deal. I go to shared screen session. I explain them how to solve the problems. But it takes time. It would be faster to directly access to the projects and check.

Hi Thibaut!
Thanks for the information. I understand that it would be more convenient for you to easier be able to help the users in the projects but also good that you find a work around for this. Overall I would be even happier if the users would be able to understand Projectplace themselves. You could first tell them to visit our help site https://help.projectplace.com and see if they can´t find help there. We are right now also working on soon releasing a new help portal but will let you know as we get there.
I need to check with our product management about their thoughts around your idea.

Silvija

I agree with Thibaut. As an administrator of now 65 Project Managers and 140 people working i Projectplace and rising I really need access to all the Projects. The help center and support is very good, but it is my experience that people not alwys use them. And they never will even if we tell them this again and again. People are different and sometimes it is easier to just take over and help them and show them how to do it. Now I have to make the project manager invite me to the project and I get to many Projects allready ;-)

It would be nice if the Head Admin has access to everything.

Hi Søren!
Thank you for sharing. Do you also need to help your users with similar things as Thibaut, such as access rights or what would be the most common things that you get questions about?

Silvija

If it's in the help files, it's something I get questions about. Which is to say, the adoption curve is a little steeper than necessary precisely because I can't do the handholding for users exploring features they've never used before.

Also they'll ask philosophical questions, like "Is this the best way to set up my Plan? Please go have a look at it and let me know your thoughts." Oh wait, I can't look, because even though I'm the Head Admin, you have to grant access to me.

Thank you Jen for additional input here. It is very valuable information to us. We would like to minimize that adoption curve because it can´t only be your task to teach all users the best way to learn how to use Projectplace. How do you mean if something is in the help files?

Hi Silvija!

I think that I Jen expressed it very precisely in her comments. And I may add that I focus a lot on Kanban boards. Easy to setup but not so easy for unexperienced users to master.

Thank you for your input Søren! Well, even though giving account admins access rights to projects, that alone will not solve the issue of how to motivate and learn members how to work with a kanban board. We are planning on looking at creating best practices later on and believe this could be something that is relevant for you.

Silvija

Hi!

Thx. I am aware that it is not the only answer to motivate and learn members how to use Kanban Boards. As I said this is not the only purpose why we want quick access to the Projects. There is a lof of other reasons that I don't want to reveal here, but beieve me it would help a lot if we have fully access to our soloution.

I am in a PMO department.

I can fully understand this problem coming from someone in the PMO department. When working on improvement projects with PMO support, projects managers often are operationals who have this project as a side project. They are not willing to loose more time than necessary on the project and they are waiting for the PMO to do the many things for them. Setting parameters on the plateform is a typical example. It is not only a matter of motivating the users, it is the matter of doing things the users don't even want to ear about.

The problem may be that in some firms the top management does not want to give the PMO a full access to all projects. So that it would be interesting to have 2 types of account administrators : full access and current restricted access. So that firms could chose what they want.

(In an even more advanced model, there would be also the choice at project creation to make it a secret project even the admin don't have access. But it has to be worth the value to complexify the project creation processus.)

Hi Silvija, when I say that users ask about anything in the help files, I mean this: they don't read the help files! Instead they come to me. Of course I help them find the correct help page, and hold their hand while they step through the instructions there, but sometimes they're highly frustrated even before they reach out to me. In some cases the most helpful thing I can do is to do it FOR them, and teach them later.

And yesterday I set up the Power BI connection for the first time (THANK YOU for the YouTube instructions!!) and it was REALLY clear that I need to have access to all of the projects. My boss wants BI reports that show an overall picture of the whole project portfolio, not just the projects where I am a member. I NEED to have admin access to all projects or this report problem is going to force us away from ProjectPlace!

Ugh I forgot to log in before I typed that long response to you, Silvija, so it shows up as Anonymous. Sorry! That comment above was from me!

YES!

Jen
Power BI connection...... I need to have access to all of the projects.

YES!

Hi, I can only agree on the request above. With over 150 projects and about the same number of users it would be really helpfull to have dedicated administration accounts / tools. In order to manage user accounts it would be also necessary to have access to user details, change password, reinvite (removed) users, and users to projects, departments and groups within projects. Now this is only possible to do one at a time. Looking forward to a dedicated administration board :)
