Hi!
Thanks for sharing your idea. If so I understand this correct you are talking about how dependencies between activities work? If so I can see your point of view, but you could also argue that you don't always start work on the successor simply because the predecessor has been finished. Dependencies really only indicate the logical progression, not necessarily timing (except when the predecessor requires more time).

Right now any changes to this have not been planned.
Best regards

Hi,

If a predecessor’s duration i s shortend and the successor’s end date don’t reflect that, the projects end date is unchanged and the project plan will show the wrong enddate. When working with a poject plan the plan shall always reflect the actual progress.

If the work on the successor does not start immediately, the start date och the sucessor should be locked/fixed to reflect that. I hope that this explains your question and that this will be implemented, because otherwise the plan is too time consuming to work with.

Sometimes the successor can start a even before the precessor is finished and then many software allow to set the dependency finish-start -2days.

Thank you for adding more input on this matter. We are never happy to hear that the plan is time consuming to work in so we will definitely keep an eye on this one.
Best regards

Hi - I was surprised to see this isn't an automatic feature. The very act of linking to tasks in a finish-start relationship means the finish and start dates are inter-dependent. If I didn't want the dates to be linked, I wouldn't link them.

Not only is this time consuming, it could lead to errors. If I have lots of dependencies and something happens quicker at the top of the programme I have to manually amend every single task start date. Very poor.
