Hi Eva!
Thanks for your feedback! We hear this from time to time and would like to know more about this need. How do you use the labels?

We do not have anything specific on adding more colors on cards in our roadmap, but we are planning to make it possible to add user defined tags, for example on cards, during the coming year. This will open up many possibilities, including adding tags for marking cards.

Best regards,
Silvija

Hi Silvija,

Thank you for your response! For example, we use them to sort cards that belong to different departments in our organization. Right now we have 13 departments - that's why I requested at least 13 (but from next year we will have 14, hence I'd like to increase the number in my request :-)). For each department we have one to 8 cards and most of the time it's best to sort then depending on department and not depending on other information connected to the cards. The color marking is perfect for this!

Cheers,
Eva

Hi Eva!

Another tip I can give you on how you can solve this in a different way.

1. Go to tool Plan.
2. Create an activity.
3. Create 13 sub activities to main activity, which each represent your department, see attached screenshot.
4. Go to Boards.
5. Select the board you are working on.
6. Choose a card and connect it to the activity that represents that department you want it to belong to. For doing it faster, you can multiselect cards and then choose appropriate activities/departments.
7. Select Group by Activities and then you find each card sorted by departments. See screenshot to see my example.

Hope this helps.

Thank you! We've used this solution to solve this issue. However, if it's possible to get more colors it would be great. For this situation we don't actually need to use the Plan so grouping them using the Plan is "extra work". It would be easier and less time consuming if we could just add colors to the cards.

Cheers,
Eva

Basic need here is to maximize ways in which a card can be categorized on several dimensions. Current basic dimensions are project activity, label, and status. Tags would provide another wide-bandwidth dimension. Like the other commenter, we use labels (colors) to track subteams when we still need to relate a card to an activity that is not team-specific. Making cards as "maximally relatable and categorizable" as possible increases the overall value of the system in multiple dimensions.

I can inform you that this year (2016) we have on the Roadmap to make it possible to add user defined tags in our service.
