Hi Jimmy,

What we normally would recommend is to use one card per to-do and then use the labels to link them together..

Do you think this could work for you?

Hi Jimmy,

We will probably not introduce hierarchies of cards.

However, hierarchies of activities (see Timeline) is planned.

And it is not unlikely that we will make it easy to add links between cards.

I would call this feature "recursive kanban boards and cards". What I mean is this: The top level card is general, for example: "Renew driver's license". That is one card on one board. But what does this card entail?

You should be able to open the card, as if it was itself a kanban board. In my example card, opening "Renew driver's license" would reveal an otherwise-inaccessible kanban board named "Renew driver's license". This board could contain cards with such tasks as "Get ID photos taken", "Take vision test", and "Attend first aid course". The board and the cards would have identical functionality to the currently existing top-level real-board cards.

Once I completed one of the subcards, then my running total completed would be 0.33/1. Once I completed two cards, it would be 0.67/1. Once I finished all three subtasks, Projectplace would report that I have finished 1/1 cards.

This really helps with abstraction. Your kanban board could be full of high-level goals, while the mechanical steps are hidden layers deeper.

In my ideal scenario, there is no limitation to depth. In my example, "Get ID photos taken" could be opened as its own board with "Send suit to dry cleaners", "Iron favourite shirt", and "Visit local photographer's shop".

The last post about recursive kanban cards and boards belongs to me. I thought I was logged in, but I guess I was not. Now I am. I am interested in following this idea and its development.

The ability to embed checklists (Trello has this) in cards would be excellent.

Picked ToDo over Trello because of the lanes but they do have task lists like Basecamp so getting these on cards in ToDo would be awesome.

With check lists we aim at putting all those small things you need to remember to do to complete your card in a checklist.
If you have the need to assign a sub activity to a member we still encourage you to create new cards for this. You could then connect related cards to an activity and group by activity on the board as a way to keep them visually together.
