This has now been fixed. In other words, you can now not only download files attached to cards, but also lock and edit them, and save back the changes automatically. This applies both to files that were uploaded from the computer as well as pre-existing files in the project that were picked as attachments.
The editing and save back functionality requires that either the Projectplace plug-in or the Document Manager has been installed.

Hi Anette,

Thanks for your feedback. I sympathise with the problem that you have and will talk to the development teams about it. The interaction for working with documents through links is something we need to think about.

Best regards,
Karolina

Just to clearify...
If you attach a pre-existing file from PP to a card, this will not contain a link to the original document? So changes made to the attachment will not be made in the original document?

Anette, a pre-existing file from PP that was added as attachment to a card will always be the latest version of that file, even if changes were made to it after it was attached.

We hope you agree this is a feature and not a bug :-)

Hi, Karolina,
This answer what not completely clear for me. If you make changes to a document in a card (a document that originally was in the PP document tree), will the changes made in the attachment also be found in the document in the document tree?

Said a little differently: If you open the attachment in the card, make changes and save it back to PP, will you see the changes if you open the document from the PP document tree?

Hi Anette,

Sorry if that was unclear. They are actually the same document. Even though it doesn't look that way, it is a link that is created on the card. So the answer is yes, whether you update on the card or in the Documents tab it will have the same result. the document will be changed in both places since it is the same document.

Best regards,
Karolina

Thanks :) Yes, then I agree that this is a feature. This way, you don't have to worry that people work in the "wrong" document.
