Hi Michael,

Document descriptions are searchable. You can add the baseline in the description and find all documents with that baseline in the description.

Best regards,
Karolina

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your feedback. Let me just see if I understand correctly. You could for instance choose that version 1.0 is the roll out in Switzerland and 2.0 would be the roll out in Hungary. But next time you get ready to roll out in Switzerland you need to be able to find all version 1.0 to check tha difference between those and the current.

So really this could already be supported in Projectplace provided you could do a search for all documents with a specific version number?

Best regards,
Karolina

No it is a bit more complex. Supporting a country rollout we might need approximately 300 documents, in different versions.
These we want to group together in baseline 1.0
Then in parallel to the rollout some of the documents might change, and we decide to create a new baseline, where the new versions are included in order to rollout the next country. And so on. But at a certain moment we might decide to upgrade already rolled out countries towards the actual latest version. In order to find out what the change impact might be, we then compare baselines with each other.

OK, so you would need a seperate searchable tag for document versions that belong to a specific baseline?

Would you also need to be able to compare the contents in those documents or would it be enough to get a list of them?

Yes, If we could either search for a comment/tag that belong to a specific document version, that would help.
Or creating links to versions of documents, that we then could keep inside one "baseline" folder, would be another way to do it.

No we do not need a compare function, because it will be other documents then only text docs, like process flows or excell sheets.

Hi Karolina,

since this idea has been quite a while under investigation, just want to ask if there are any news regarding the baseline topic?

We are working at making the comments for documents searchable. So you could for instance use "baseline 1" in the comment of a document. Would this work for you?

Hi,

I wasn't able to get this working and I am afraid that you mention description. I have asked for "Yes, If we could either search for a comment/tag that belong to a specific document version, that would help" which is the version specific description, that you see in the version management overview.

But in anyway, what are the pre-conditions to get it working?

br Michael
